The Emotional Freedom Technique

 Gary Craig's Retirement

The developer of EFT, Gary Craig, turns 70 this year and announced his retirement on the 15th of December 2009. It was extended to 1st of March 2010 to "give those wishing to qualify for official EFT Certification a little more time to prepare."

Gary has achieved his goal to get EFT out there and give it to the world as a gift. The momentum of EFT's growth has it's own inertia and exceeds his wildest expectations.

He is basically handing over some things and letting go of others. It's a good example of not being overly attached to things and accepting change. He expresses it as "getting out of the way".

One of the most interesting things is that he is handing over the trademarked names "EFT" and "Emotional Freedom Techniques" into the public domain and without conditions, which will allow EFT practitioners to decide how best to use them.

In his retirement document, he also wrote that "Different countries and cultures can establish their own organizations and rules without having to go through me." This has led to a number of professional EFT practitioners in Australia to connect with each other to discuss the situation and plan for the future of EFT in Australia.

Gary's sets of EFT DVDs are no longer being produced and the remaining DVD sets are running out fast. There are only a limited number of EFT DVD sets left. Only the first DVD Libraries is still available. The first three sets of DVDs that make up the first Library are my favourites. It is expected (hoped) that some other person or organization will take over their manufacturing and distribution at some point, but that is not confirmed.

Gary goes on to say: "Please know that my position here has always been voluntary. While there has been some modest profit over time, no one would have taken on this task for the money. My goal from the start has been to launch EFT into TherapyLand and thus bring its healing benefits to the world in a low cost, easy to understand manner. With your help, that mission has been accomplished. Millions of clients have been exposed to EFT and thousands of careers have been launched. Please accept my gratitude for your superb assistance. You can carry it forward from here." - Gary.

As a final gift, Gary mentions that: "Our full length movie featuring EFT as the answer to our war veterans’ PTSD is in its final stages. The total budget for this movie approximates $500,000 and it will be a stunning door opener for the whole EFT field. It will create a major awareness for the public regarding EFT and all EFT’ers will benefit by it. I have given it to my dedicated film director, Eric Huurre. He will introduce it to the public early next year (i.e. 2010)." - Gary.

He included a footnote that he is contemplating a new website and newsletter at a later point. Gary's purpose has always been to give EFT to the world and this he has done brilliantly and with amazing generosity.

Tributes to Gary Craig from certified EFT Masters around the world can be found at the EFT Masters' web site. I encourage all those interested in EFT to subscribe to the EFT Masters' Newsletter (monthly). It is a really excellent and useful resource - and I write articles for it now and again! And, by the way, the February issue of the Newsletter includes the first part of an article I wrote called "What to do when progress is slow".

Gary's contributions to Mankind have been important and significant and he has helped hundreds of thousands of people to heal their emotional wounds and live happier and more successful lives. It's reached the point where EFT has developed its own inertia and the future and growth of EFT are guaranteed. Gary knows that. Thank you, Gary!
